Bones: “The Truth in the Myth”Posted: April 15, 2011
Like the other Bones episodes that deal with mythical creatures (aliens, witches, ghosts) this episode did a good job of trying to get you to believe the myth while at the same time debunking it with logic. This time the team had to solve the murder of Lee Coleman, the host of a mythbustering mythical creatures show. He was investagating the Chupacabra and when his body is found it has all the signs of a Chupacabra attack.
Of course, Hodgins (TJ Thyne) is super excited to prove that the Chupacabra is real, while Brennan (Emily Deschanel) is quick to debunk everything with logic. After suspecting a T.V. producer, the host of a myth finding mythical creatures show and a pet psychic, a wilderness lodge owner ends of confessing to Sweets (John Francis Daley, who co-wrote the episode) that Lee Coleman was killed in a hunting accident. It turns out the lodge owner made the death look like a Chupacabra attack to attract business.
The episode doesn’t do much with Bones and Booth (David Boreanaz). They have a few cute scenes but not much more than that. But the episode did have squnitern Vincent Nigel-Murray, played by Ryan Cartwright, confessing that he told his friends that he slept with Bones, Angela (Michaela Conlin) and Cam (Tamara Taylor) before he entered rehab for alcoholism, which was a funny running joke.
I’m hoping something big happens in next week’s episode, which is called “Finder”. And since there has never been a Bones episode with a one-word title before there better be something.
